Lessons at Millhaven are available ONLY to those boarding or leasing a horse at our farm.

We are not a schooling barn and have no lesson horses or lesson program. This is intentional. It ensures that our boarders have maximum access to the facilities.

We have several trainers and instruction is available in dressage, hunter/jumper, eventing and basic Western riding. See below for a short bio on instructors.

Lessons at Millhaven are private, although sometimes boarders get together and arrange a group lesson.

Outside trainers are welcome, but must have their own liability insurance and provide a "certificate of insurance" specifically listing "Millhaven Horse Farm" and owner "Richard Mills" as a co-insured. Equine insurance agencies are familiar with providing these certificates.

Outside trainers here to instruct boarders are not charged for the use of our facilities.

INSTRUCTORS

ANN ZINSSER is a CHA Certified Riding Instructor in English (4) and Western (2). She incorporates the best principles of the natural horsemanship movement into dressage, jumping and pleasure riding instruction. Ann focuses on developing a rewarding and safe partnership between horse and rider and helps riders have more fun with their horses.

Ann grew up riding and working at her family's New York riding stable. She competed in stadium jumping and dressage and has taught at several Maryland stables. She has also coached local hunter, equitation league and dressage show teams.

One of her horses is preparing to compete in dressage at First Level and another is in the process of completing Parelli Level 3 tasks (along with some amusing tricks)! She continues her studies under Manolo Mendez and Carolyn Del Grosso. You can contact her at azinsser@att.net.

LYN CHRISTIE has over 25 years of experience teaching at all levels of riding. She emphasizes correct rider position and effective use of seat and legs as the foundation for success in any riding discipline, whether it's jumping, eventing, dressage or trail riding.

Lyn has competed through Novice level in eventing and Training level in Dressage. She has ridden in combined training clinics with several top US eventers and recently attended an eventing clinic in Ireland. She has also trained with dressage instructors Alex Gerdin and Wout van der Brink. Lyn can be contacted at lchristi@comcast.net.
